Biography

Seyoung Park is a South Korean-born pianist, educator, and collaborative pianist whose music spans a diverse range of genres and styles. With performances across the United States, Europe, and Korea, Seyoung has built a reputation as a well-rounded artist who blends traditional classical repertoire with contemporary works and interdisciplinary collaborations.

Seyoung began piano lessons at the age of seven and enrolled in the prestigious Seoul Art Center’s prodigy program at the age of eleven. At thirteen, she made her orchestral debut performing Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Jeonju Symphony Orchestra in Korea. She has since garnered recognition in numerous national competitions, including the Eumaksekye, Eumyoun, and Music Education Journal Competitions in Seoul, Korea.

 

As a solo performer, Seyoung has given recitals at renowned venues such as the Franz Liszt Academy Concert Hall in Budapest, Youngsan Art Hall and Dreamforest Art Center in Seoul, White Recital Hall at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory, and Barness Recital Hall at the University of South Florida. Notable performances include the Steinway Series’ 2018 Late Beethoven Sonata Series and 2019 Art of Fugue series. Seyoung’s festival engagements include the Amalfi Coast Music and Art International Festival (Italy), Atlantic Music Festival (USA), Brancaleoni International Music Festival (Italy), Music Alps Festival (France), Liszt Academy International Music Festival (Hungary), and Yeonum Piano Summer School (South Korea).

 

Seyoung is a passionate and versatile educator, committed to helping students’ growth from beginner to advanced levels. She served as Collaborative Pianist and Instructor for Applied Piano Lessons at Benedictine College from 2022 to 2024. In this role, she not only worked closely with students to improve their piano technique and musicality but also collaborated with other musicians in various performance settings. Her teaching approach emphasizes creativity, flexibility, and an open-mindedness to exploring a wide variety of musical genres. Previously, Seyoung was a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory, where she taught group piano and applied piano lessons to both music and non-music majors.

In addition to her work in classical piano, Seyoung has embraced contemporary collaborations, including notable projects in electronic music. One significant collaboration was with composer Hyekyung Lee, where she explored the fusion of traditional piano with electronic elements. This experience deepened her understanding of new music and amplified her belief in the importance of cross-genre exploration. Whether performing standard classical repertoire or premiering works by living composers, Seyoung thrives in a wide range of musical settings.

 

As a Graduate Assistant in instrumental accompanying at the University of South Florida, Seyoung collaborated with instrumentalists across various genres, including contemporary and experimental music. Her collaborations often include premieres of new works, allowing her to further expand her skills and approach to music-making.

 

Seyoung holds a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance and Chamber Music from the University of South Florida, where she studied with Dr. Svetozar Ivanov with full scholarship. She earned a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Dongduk Women's University in Seoul, studying with Prof. Hyosun Nah, Dr. Minyoung Lee, and Noel McRobbie. Currently, she is finishing her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at the UMKC Conservatory, under the mentorship of Dr. Thomas Rosenkranz.
